This lesson contains an ESSAY QUESTION assignment.

Good evening, class. For those who do not remember or have not attended my class yet, I am Professor Trelawney. I teach the art of Divination! It takes a special kind of student to excel in this class. You must possess the Inner Eye! That isn't to say that you will not be able to pass this class without it, but your predictions may not have the clarity that a true Seer may divine!

Today, we will be learning about the most important means of divining the future: oneiromancy. What is oneiromancy, you ask? It's also known as dream interpretation.

Last term we spoke about tessomancy, which was the interpretation of tea leaves to divine the future. Similar to how tessomancy interprets the shapes the tea leaves form, oneiromancy interprets shapes, figures, smells, feelings, etc. to cast predictions. When we dream, we are more relaxed and receptive to prophecies than when we are awake and have outside distractions. Our visions become more lucid.

For some, dreams may be very straight forward in showing us our futures. For instance, dreaming that a stranger comes to your door may very well mean that you should be expecting an unexpected visitor quite soon. However, some dreams may need a bit more digging to find the underlying prophecy beneath the dream. For example, if you dream about being locked in a room that is filling with water, it may not mean that you will find yourself literally drowning. It may mean that in your near future, an event may occur that will cause you a great deal of stress.

For your assignment, I'd like you all to keep some parchment and a quill on your beside table for two nights. Each corresponding morning when you wake up, write down everything you remember from your dreams. Then after you have two dreams to work with, interpret what your dreams may mean for your future. If you find yourself not remembering your dream in the morning or do not believe you dreamt at all, make a note of it and try another night. I'd really like for you all to at least have two dreams. Feel free to use your copy of The Dream Oracle for assistance.

Your assignment today includes two essays. Please keep your answers between 1-4 paragraphs for each question. Please post your answers here behind spoiler tags (if you do not know how to use spoiler tags, please let me know and I'd be happy to help you).

Each question will be graded out of a maximum of 10 points each for a total of a possible 20 House Points.

1.) List what happened in your first dream and make a prediction based off of that dream. Please be as detailed as possible with the dream!

2.) List what happened in your second dream and make a prediction based off of that dream. Please be as detailed as possible with the dream!

SPOILER (click to toggle) Dreaming is free Dreaming Dreaming is free

.. so sings Blondie

I had worked so hard all day getting things ready for Christmas ... cooking, decorating the tree, wrapping presents etc. I was exhausted when I went to bed.

I had a dream that that I was watering my garden. Which I forgot to do because I was so busy throughout the day. But the watering was not a simple matter of turning on a timer or turning on a tap. It was a chore consisting of turning on a tap, filling a watering can, walking to a plant and tipping the can onto the plant. This I repeated over and over again. Until the entire garden had been watered by hand.

My prediction is... I will have peace and serenity as my garden is happy.

SPOILER (click to toggle) It was not long after my fathers funeral. I had finally fallen asleep. I was dreaming but nothing I can remember when all of a sudden I felt something looking over my right shoulder. I turned and saw my father. He was smiling and happy and relaxed. He looked really good. I burst into tears and woke up.

I feel that this dream (if it was a dream or in fact did really happen) means that dad will always be there for me.

SPOILER (click to toggle) I was on my way to the city. But then I decided to go to the train station. It was crowded with people. I don´t know why I went to the station I didn´t really want to go somewhere. But I had the feeling I had to leave so I went to sit on a random seat. After a while a train arrived. I decided to get in. When the train started to drive I had a feeling of satisfaction.

My prediction is... I will have to take on a new journey.

SPOILER (click to toggle) The second dream I had was weird. I was in a dark cellar. There were no lights. The only thing I saw or rather heard were bats hanging off the ceiling. The door was locked. I called a few times but noone answered. I tried to switch on the light but I did not find a switch.

My prediction...I will need to have some time on my own.

Lapis Lazuli's First Dream Lapis stands up beside her desk, unrolls her scroll and swallows nervously. The only eyes she seems to have were the two on the outside of her head. However, if one thing could be said about recording her dreams, it as that upon closer inspection, they did speak volumes about the subconscious. She has no idea if her predictions will be truth or just her own hopes or fears coloring her analyses. She begins to read, "In my dream, I was in our common room, in the tower. There were other students studying in pairs, but I was alone. A boy I didn't know was also sitting alone in a chair. I looked up and saw him smiling at me and he waved me over. I got up to go to him, but then suddenly there was this strong wind sweeping through the common room and it blew me out the window. I was falling from the tower towards the ground and just before I hit the moat, I turned into an eagle and flew into the woods. I landed in a tree and below me I saw a kitten batting at some kind of mole or groundhog. I was about to fly down and pluck up the kitten to save the little burrowing animal, when all of a sudden a snake reared up and was about to attack the kitten. I was frozen on my perch in the tree, unable to decide what animal to save." Lapis took a breath, feeling the dream come back to her as she described it. "I think perhaps my dream is predicting, at least, that the person I'll fall in love with won't be a Ravenclaw. At first I thought the dream might be saying it would be a Gryffindor or Hufflepuff, depending on who I chose to save, but then I thought, what if the snake is a Slytherin who is just getting rid of the others I might choose between? I'm not sure, although I do know that in the dream I did not find the snake appealing in the least!"
Lapis' Second Dream Lapis takes up her second scroll and relays her second dream, this time quite a bit more relaxed. "The next dream I remembered well enough to record, I was on the Quidditch team, but I was all confused. I wasn't sure what position I was playing. I would be chasing the golden snitch and then suddenly realize I was supposed to be the keeper, but once I flew down in front of the goal I looked down and the quaffle was in my hands and I was a chaser, then a beater. Every time I thought I knew what position I was playing, I would realize it was the wrong one. I think this might predict that I will have difficulty choosing an occupation once I'm finished here at Hogwarts. I've always fancied myself a dragon handler, but maybe I should examine some other choices before I take the rest of my N.E.W.T.s."

First Dream The first dream I had was about meeting a friend. He and I were going to the local café for a drink. I walked into the café to meet him and he was there, but I didn’t recognize his face. I knew it was my friend, but he looked completely different. We sat down to have drinks – I ordered a steeped tea (plain orange pekoe, if I remember correctly), while he had a coffee drink. We had a very good time together and went our separate ways. The dream was largely unremarkable but I remember very vividly a brown armchair with gold trim, made of a very soft fabric that I had sat in.

I believe that seeing my friend – so familiar and so friendly – with a different face may mean that someone in my near group of friends may soon show a side to themselves that I have not seen before. I don’t think this is necessarily a bad thing as the dream had an overall positive note, which I believe may mean that they will show this new side of themselves for the better and we may become even closer because of this. I struggle to interpret the significance of drinking tea in my dream, though I believe it may have to do with friendship as well. Drinking tea in dreams, according to the text, means that I am about to move or to move away from someone or something. The taste of orange in the tea, similarly, means I may lose someone close to me. Perhaps this friend will show a side to him or her that I don’t like, after all, and this may create a rift between us. As for my friend’s coffee in the dream, someone young drinking coffee in a dream signifies that they may gain a bad reputation, once again reinforcing that this friend may do something for the worse. As for the chair, I believe it may mean that I will be leaving behind something familiar at the end of whatever is to come. This something will burn in my memory, much like the chair stood out, and I will miss it (or them, as it were). Overall, this dream appears to be about me losing someone dear to me in the near future, and about that occurring because of some sort of a betrayal or irreconcilable personality shift in the other person.

Second Dream

I had a dream that I was on a school trip. It was a trip deep into the mountains. It was snowy and cold outside, but when we arrived at our destination, the weather cleared and we were surrounded by a very hot, arid, almost desert-like climate. There was a large hot spring in the middle of a plateau high on the mountain we’d come to and it was surrounded in every direction by white rock walls. Though the scenery was beautiful and all my friends were with me and we were having a good time, for some reason I felt apprehensive throughout the dream.

I think that the mountains in my dream indicate obstacles to some sort of goal I’m trying to reach. Because I was on top of the mountain, however, I feel like whatever hard work I will put into reaching this goal will be well worth it, and that I will succeed. The snow in my dream, especially in such large quantities (it was almost a blizzard, it seemed like), may represent my inhibitions or reservations about whatever obstacles I need to overcome to reach my end goal. The cold I felt at the beginning may also indicate emotional turmoil I may face on my journey. The later sunshine and warmth, however, represent security and joy, suggesting that regardless of the hardships I experience on my journey to reaching this goal, it’ll all be worth going through. The hot spring itself symbolizes relaxation, and as this was the end goal of the journey in the dream, perhaps it means that at the end of whatever period of time it takes me to achieve my goal, I will find peace of mind and relaxation. All in all, a dream with a very positive outlook!

Dreams

Rox had placed the notebook on her bedside table, she desperately wanted to do well in the divination class, as it had been one of her mom’s favourites when she had attended school.

The first night didn’t do her very well, she was awake for most of the night and couldn’t remember anything from the little time that she did sleep. She had literally nothing to work with on any dreams that she might have had during that time, as she wasn’t even able to remember if she had a dream at all that night. The next morning she thought that she might have been too stressed out from trying to do the assignment well, so she decided to let it go and see what would come of that.

First dream The second night she went to bed early, tired of the night without sleep she had before. When she went to bed she didn’t even think about the assignment, all she could think about was sleep. In the dream that she had that night she heard her parents telling her to do better in school. Her parents told her that they had high expectations from her. They told her that she had to do better than they had done in school. It was as if they yelled at her, as if they were screaming to her to work even harder than she was already doing. She felt the stress she was always feeling at these moments. But between the yelling, she could also hear them telling her that they had always known that she was capable of doing great things. They were smiling when they told her this.

When she woke up in the morning she made notes on the dream that she had, trying to make a prediction as requested by the professor. She looked down at the notes she had made on the dream, unsure what it could mean, when suddenly it hit her. Her parents did expect a lot from her, but they had always told her that they were proud of her too. The prediction she could make of the dream was that her parents would always be there for her and that her parents would always expect her to do just as much as they believed she was able to.

Second dream The next night when she went to bed she didn’t expect to get a dream at all as she was again a bit stressed out about completing the assignment before the next divination class. But when she fell asleep it didn’t take the dream long to come to her. The next morning after she had woken up, she would say that this dream had been weird. In her dream she had been a cat, the black cat she had been since becoming an Animagus. She had been running around in the dark streets of the town where she was living with her parents. She had the feeling that she was being chased around, that someone or something was following her, but when she stopped and looked behind her, there was nothing there. She had the feeling that she had been running around for hours, unsure what to do, unsure where to go, but still running away from the thing behind her.

When she woke up she was still unsure about the dream that she had, unsure about the predications that she could make out of it. She got the feeling that it might have to do with work that had to be completed, assignments to be done or something like that. If she compared it to the dream she has had before about her parents, this dream might have been telling her that stressing out over something you can’t see isn’t good for you. The dream might be telling her to be more relaxed about what needs to be done and to enjoy it more. She made notes about the dream, knowing that she really wanted to talk to the professor about the last dream that she had.

Dreams MG did not often have dreams, she felt as though she went to bed and woke up 5 minutes later even though hours may have passed. She took a remedy tea that professor gave her and was hopeful it would work. She wrote in her notebook with her quill that stated "Day 1 Dream 1?". She then proceeded to bed and tried to sleep, awhile has passed and there was a lot of tossing and turning but eventually she fell asleep.

I was dreaming of being on the hogwarts express, except it was different, distorted somehow. I roamed the train from the first cable car to the last. Kinda feeling lost, not sure why i was searching. Eventually i stumbled into the dining car, i sat down and ordered some food, but everyone in the room was staring at me, like i was out of place, and then it happened. A guy busted through the dining car and said i didn't have my pass, he said i was not pureblood and that i was a muggle!

MG woke up screaming, scared that one day she wont be herself anymore. She thought about what professor said about interpretation. She begain writing in her notebook. "I believe my first dream was about one day someone not believing in me, not seeing that i can do great things and help. Someone doesn't believe in my magic."

It was the next night and MG repeated her steps. Drank the tea, tossed and turned but eventually MG fell asleep. This time she barely dreamed, she thought about what she might say to the professor but she had a few pictures in her head and that was it, she saw a picture of the grand hall when she was at the ball and then MG saw a picture of the quiditch field. Lastly she saw a picture of this specific classroom. MG decided to write in her notebook about what she did see even if it wasn't a dream. "After the pictures i thought about what i saw, and i think i was just scared about the dream the night before. I think it was just my mind showing me that i love all these things about Hogwarts and i never want to leave and that my magic will always be with me and i will always be here! I feel scared but happy i saw what i love."

SPOILER (click to toggle) Paddy wasn't convinced with Divination being a "real" subject - it seemed a bit woolly and vague to her, so when she was told they'd have to remember and analyse two dreams, her heart sank. This close to the full moon, she always had similar dreams nightmares, and knew exactly what they meant, but a class was a class, and she knew she'd have to do something for this assignment.

Dream One I found myself running through a forest at night, the light reflecting from my fur, Mouse (my Barn Owl) flying directly above my head. I ran to the edge of the forest, and found a densely populated city in front of me. All the residents suddenly appeared on the outskirts, forming a ring around the city, staring at me with red eyes.

I know what this means I think this means that there's a secret that I don't want anyone to know - I'm scared of the reaction it will get.

Dream Two The second night, I was in the same area, but this time I was walking through the city (Mouse was still flying alongside me). The residents were forcibly escorting me away, with a group of them lifting me up and throwing me over the city boundaries.

I definitely know what this means I think this is a follow on from my previous dream, where I feel that if that secret is known, I will be taken away from Hogwarts, and ostracised by everyone.

Fade quietly kept his anticipation about the assignment to himself. Dreaming had always been one of his favorite pastimes. He had often considered keeping a dream journal, and was glad for a practical reason to start.

Dream I’m with a group of friends, but I don’t recognize them as people I know. It just feels natural to be with them. We are in a large country house in the middle of a giant field full of very tall grass that the wind is blowing through constantly. The inside is fully furnished, it looks like a bunch of old ladies decorated it. it is warm and feels safe inside, but I feel a terrible, gnawing apprehension about going outside. I eventually find myself in a room full of pillows and suddenly we are no longer in the country, but inside a house on the edge of a beach somewhere. All the windows are wide open and full of sunlight. My apprehension dissolves away and I wake up.

Prediction: The house must represent Hogwarts, the friends are obviously my friends, or friendships yet to come. Open fields often represent freedom or personal growth. Strong wind however represents turmoil or feeling stressed, like I am not moving fast enough toward my goals. I need to slow down and relax a little. Maybe this year my family and I will be visiting a beach over the coming Holiday.

Dream I’m inside a gigantic shopping center, there are many ways to go, but they all look interesting and I can’t decide. There are pink and purple lights on the walls. I finally pick the first shop closest to me, it takes me a long time to sift through a few clothing racks before I realize I’m spending too much time and that I don’t really like anything inside. I exit the shop and pass by a few darker shops but feel drawn to one that has halloween costumes in the window. Inside I meet a group of girls dressed up like Magical Girls and they laugh at my hair, but one says she likes it and that she can change hers as well. Before I ask her to show me, I wake up.

Prediction: I am obviously concerned about giving gifts this year. But I will have the best luck in a shop that sells costumes. If I’m lucky maybe I’ll even meet another metamorphmagus! Pink is the color of love, and purple can represent devotion. Maybe someone who I’m buying a gift for has a crush on me… Gross.

Ernessa rolled her eyes, she wasn't sure she believed that dreams could predict the future but still she placed some rolls of parchment by her bed and went to sleep.

Dream 1 There was cheering all around me, people were beginning to chant my name. Had I just made the best save in quidditch history? I grinned and looked around at the faces in the stands, but they were not cheering, they were laughing and pointing at me. I looked down to see that I had not put on my quidditch robes this morning and was in fact flying in my underwear.

I would say this just means I'm nervous about trying out for the slytherin house team.

Dream 2 It's dark, I can't see a thing. But then I see a flash of red in the distance, I begin to run towards it but it keeps getting further away. Something is here in the room with me, I can hear it breathing. I'm terrified. Something grabs me and shoves me to the ground, I am pinned, I can't move. A light comes on in the distance and I can see what's pinning me; it's me. Except I look rabid, my eyes are gleaming and there is blood around my mouth, I grin to show off sharp teeth and then everything goes dark again.

This was an awful dream and it left me wide awake in the middle of the night, but I think it means that I'm scared that my vampire nature will overthrow my human nature

Dream1 My first dream was about this red vehicle. It was sharp nosed with tires firmly to the ground. I had seen one in my friends tv set growing up called a race car. She was a wizard to but her dad was in muggle studies. I remember going around a race track and I had someone with me that would take my place when my turn was over.

Maybe it has something to do with my going forward in my life, it is a nice dream to have.

Dream2 I was at this odd store. It had tons of different things. I think I was buying all these different bottles of things for potions and parchment. I have never seen those things in the jars before.

Maybe it has to do with needing some things in my life. Like certain potions for my future assignments or other reasons.

SPOILER (click to toggle) In my first dream I was walking out the door to the front yard of a house that I assumed was my own. In the yard there was a tall oak tree with a tire swing hanging from it. The weather was slightly chilly as it felt like fall was coming on, this was visible in the rich orange and yellow coloring of the leaves. I climbed into the tire swing and gave myself a push.

I began to pump my legs swinging higher and higher until I felt that it was impossible to gain elevation. It was at that point in the dream that the rope attached to the tree and tire began to fray at the top. I notice it out of the corner of my eye, but before I could stop the rope came detached and I fell to the ground knocking myself out, the dream ending.

I predict that this dream meant that my life will be prosperous and rooted, but since I got on a tire swing in the dream it means that I am currently in a rut with something from my past that I need to move beyond. The fact that the rope began to fray end eventually came disconnected means that I need to stop dwelling and take those steps towards my future and stop.

SPOILER (click to toggle) In my second dream I was on a long sidewalk leading up to a large house, a silver key in my hand. I wanted to get in the building to see what was inside. As I took steps, getting closer and closer, the house seemed to push away from me. I could not get close enough to the door so I turned around and started to walk away. At that point I heard the knocker of the door make a loud sound and turned around finding that I was right by the door.

I turned around and tried the key in the door. It did not work and then the key changed in appearance. It was now a made of tin foil and inside was chocolate in the shape of a key. I ate it and then woke up to my alarm.

I predict that the dream was majorly about the key, which symbolizes opportunity. I wanted access to this building and I needed it. It is a reminder that, in my life, I need to embrace my opportunities and need to take the key firmly in my hand and force the doors that arrive open. Not so sure what the chocolate part means except perhaps that I should be flexible in the opportunities I am presented.

Samantha cringed at the assignment. The only dreams she remembered on waking were painful nightmares. Maybe she should make up some nonsense, and claim it predicted she would be rich and famous.

Dream 1 This nightmare tends to re-occur. It's always pretty much the same.

I'm walking up a wooded ridge on a warm Autumn day. I've left a creek and it's surrounding cottonwoods and aspen trees behind, and am climbing through dense sage, pinyon, and juniper scrub. A rattlesnake is complaining about the wild sheep and horses trampling her dens, and big bumbling carpenter bees are droning about.
Suddenly everything goes quiet, and I look around to see a dense black cloud rising behind me. I can't smell the smoke yet, but I know it's a fire. The flames will burn uphill fast, so I turn to run down through the scrub towards a gap in the towering wall of smoke, but the snake begins to wail that I have to help save her family, and threatens to bite me if I don't. I uproot a slab of rock that she leads me to, and pull out at least a dozen newborn snakes from beneath it. Shoving them in my pockets as the mother snake wraps herself around my arm, I look for the gap in the fire to run to, but its gone. An impossibly tall wall of fire is rushing toward me from every direction except up. I run. My wand is gone and I can't think of any spell to save us. Then the trail ends at a cliff and I jump. I can't see what's below me through the smoke, and I'm screaming "Aresto Momentum" but I'm not slowing down. I'm usually still screaming when I wake up. Even though the dream scares the piss outta me, the Dream Oracle says it may symbolize a negative part of me or my life is being destroyed. The fire is also a symbol of creative energy and that snakes are a symbol of masculine energy and wisdom. I think the dream is predicting that once I stop running away from my negative feelings and overcome them, I will be able to succeed in my creative goals.

Sam put down her journal, and tried to remember what kind of tea would best help her to remember another dream.

Dream So the dream started out with my pa and I practicing different chaser moves on our brooms out over the desert one day. He throws the quaffle particularly hard, and before I can catch up to it, a giant Saguaro reaches up and grabs it. The quaffle is punctured by the long cactus spines and I'm afraid to fly close enough to retrieve the ruined ball. I fly back to my pa and tell him what happened, but he doesn't believe me because Saguaros don't grow in Nevada (and even in Arizona they don't reach out and grab things). He tells me to go back and get the ball, and to be home before dinner.
When I get back to the cactus, a swarm of bats fly up out of it's flowers and try to chase me away. I'm all confused because a Saguaro cactus only flowers at night, until I realize it IS night. The moon is up and it's way past my dinner time. I wave my wand and shout "Petrificus Totalus!", and all the bats freeze and fall to the ground. When I reach the cactus it doesn't move either, so I grab the quaffle out of the cactus arms, spines and all. Before I leave I pick one of the Saguaro's big white flowers to prove to my pa I wasn't lying. I was flying back home as I woke up. I think the dream is predicting that I will succeed in my goals as long as I don't chicken out, and give up too easily.

Dream 1

The first dream was quite short. I was running through a field or a forest with no shoes on. The ground was cold and wet. The perspective was first person. I could tell I was running from something, but not what it actually was. After running for some time I tripped over a root and immediately woke up.

My prediction is that something that I have been avoiding is going to catch up with me soon.

Dream 2 In this dream I was at Hogwarts, and watched myself from an outside perspective come come down the stairs from the dormitory into the common room in the middle of the night. There was a shadowed figure standing over by the dying fireplace. The shadowy figure started to walk briskly towards the dream-me standing at the bottom of the stairs. That is when I woke up.

My prediction is that there is someone waiting for me, or someone watching me from afar.

Dream 1

I remember falling through a hole and into a patch of Devils Snare. Everyone knows you have to be still, relax in order to be let out and I stayed still but it tightened and tightened on me. I tried not to panic, I still didn't move then suddenly an explosion of light came from nowhere and I was free.

Meaning: I'm feeling trapped by things with my family, trapped by things with school and soon something will become clear and I will have less stress.

Dream 2 All i can remember is falling continuously; nothing else happened, just more falling.

Meaning: Perhaps it means I feel I'm getting nowhere in life or school.

Gwen takes the journal. She likes the idea of the subject, dream interpretations are interesting. Although she is worried about what other people will think of her dreams.

dream one I am in my potions class, like normal. Everyone is there, my teacher and classmates. Then all of a sudden we are all on top of a tower. Professor Mathers gives everyone a piece of parchment. She tells everyone to jump off and use the parchment as a parachute. Several people go but it is so high, I cannot see if they land. When it comes to be my turn I yell that I won’t do it. Then out of nowhere my parents appear, "Just go!" they yell. "Stop being such a wimp!" Everyone is looking at me, taunting me to jump, I keep saying no over and over. Someone pushes me and I am falling over the edge of the tower. Then I wake up.

I believe that this dream is about me being scared of not doing what everyone wants me to. I want to follow what the professors and my parents say but I want to be able to make up my own mind about things. I know that falling in a dream is an indication of insecurities, instabilities, and anxieties. That a person is feeling overwhelmed and out of control in some situation in their waking life. Maybe the pressure that I think I have to do well is starting to overwhelm me. I think this might be a sign that I need to take a step back and do something calming for a change.

dream two I am back at my house and all the furniture is gone. The only thing in the house is me and a giant piece of apple pie. My stomach growls so I start to eat the pie. After I am done I realize I have to use the bathroom. Inside the bathroom the toilet is as big as giant, I look at it with dismay. After climbing to the top I slip and land in the bowl, swimming around. I feel a tug on my legs and dive down to find that I am in the great lake. I swim around until the mermaids ask me to leave. As I am coming to the surface I wake up in my dorm.

Honestly, I think this dream was just telling me I was hungry and had to use the privies. The swimming though is interesting. To dream that you are swimming suggests that you are exploring aspects of your subconscious mind and emotions. The dream may be a sign that you are seeking some sort of emotional support. When dreaming that you are swimming underwater suggests that you are completely submerged in your own feelings. This probably has something to due with the dream I had the other night. I have been trying to so some soul searching to find things that make me happy and less stressed about pleasing everyone.

Dream One I'm sitting in a room then it turns into a busy city where im now standing in the middle of the road and cars are rushing by. there are people standing on each side of the road holding there hand out towards me. There is a dark aura behind the people on the left and a light aura behind the people on the right. I never know who to choose and when I go to choose I awake.

I think this means that I will have a big decision that we be either good or bad for me.

Dream Two Again, I'm in a room but this time im surrounded by tons of people, pushing me forward. But where we are going im never sure. We just kind moving, then the faces around me start to show people that were in my past, people from middle and high school. They all have the same face of confusion, like none of us know where we are going.

I think this means that I am not the only one from my generation not sure where they will be in the future, but we must continue to move forward.

Poppy caught Sam and Ernessa's eyes and made a face. She prided herself on being a deep sleeper and getting a good night's rest. It had taken her longer than two nights to remember two dreams for the essays, and one of them had been the result of a nap that she expressly took for the assignment.

dream I dreamed that I was inside a coffin. It was very stuffy and mostly dark, and I felt as if I couldn't take a full breath. I started to feel quite hot because the coffin's lining was made of blood red velvet. There was a metallic taste in my mouth that made my tongue feel thick. I tried beating on the lid with my hands and kicking with my feet but I was trapped. The whole time I couldn't make a sound even though I wanted to scream.

I predict that I will be duped by a handsome stranger. It will turn out that he's a vampire and he'll exsanguinate me and leave me dead in the back alley of a pub in the middle of a new moon.

dream I'm sitting in my favorite armchair in the Slytherin common room with Biscuit, my bunny, on my lap. In my hand there's a Chocoball. I bite into it and my teeth begin to splinter into shards. Biscuit starts to freak out and hops up and down frantically on the floor. I can't do anything but hold my hands out in front of my mouth. It doesn't hurt but my mouth feels weird.

I predict that someone will send me poisoned Chocoballs. After I eat one, I'll drop dead instantly. Poison is a woman's weapon, so she'll take my teeth to make herself a bracelet and steal Biscuit. The latter was her plan all along.

Eloise chewed her lip as she bowed her head over her parchment. She really hadn't slept well the past couple of days. She wondered if the stress of having to dream for school work was the cause.
Dream One I was walking with my sister in a park, where we came across a wooden bench and started to have a conversation about what we wanted to do in the coming year. At some point in the dream, no words will come out of my throat, and I can only squeal. My sister doesn't seem to notice that I can no longer speak. She begins to think that I am not listening to her, and she leaves me alone on the bench.

I predict that I may offend someone somehow in the future and will be unable to rectify it with just my words.

Dream Two My second dream consisted of a puppy, a snake and an empty box. The puppy is sad and lonely, and as I attempt to cuddle it, I find my hands have been bound to my sides. At this moment, the snake begins to uncoil from its slumber and come at me. I then attempt to shield myself with the empty box...the dream ends with me somehow falling inside the box, down and down and down.

This one is tough, but I predict that a stranger may befriend or trick me with their soft/trusting demeanor. It is possible the box represents failure of some sort as a result of trusting the stranger.
